Following on from the success of the Seren project, the Geoenvironmental Research Center (GRC) are pleased to announce the continuation of the cutting edge research carried out under Seren in its successor, Seren2020.
Seren2020 will be part of the £24m EU backed Flexis project, a pan Wales energy research project, led by Cardiff University and bringing together leading academics from Cardiff University, Swansea University and the University of South Wales.
Seren2020 will focus on the following key areas, ensuring a legacy for the world class results achieved by its predecessor:
- Smart Thermal Energy
- Unconventional Gas
- Carbon Sequestration in Coal and Soil
- Geoinformatics and Environmental Monitoring
One of the key aims of the project will be to attract world class research to Wales, boost research funding and deliver economic and employment benefits through its work. It will achieve this through close collaboration with industry and leading research establishments across the globe.
Seren2020 will also seek to continue its track record of delivering environmental sustainability and equality and diversity as an integral part of the project.
As part of this exciting new project, Seren2020 will shortly be seeking to appoint a number of new researchers in the field of work. Opportunities will appear on the main GRC employment page in due course.
